Music Therapy
Music Therapy at Ignited Minds uses the universal language of music — rhythm, melody, and movement — to support emotional regulation, communication, cognitive development, and social connection for children with special needs.
What is Music Therapy?
Music therapy is an evidence-based clinical practice in which a trained therapist uses music experiences to address individual therapeutic goals. It is not music lessons — it is therapy that uses music as the medium to achieve developmental, emotional, and social outcomes for children.
How Music Helps Children
Music engages multiple areas of the brain simultaneously, making it a uniquely powerful therapeutic tool. For children with autism, ADHD, or other special needs, music therapy can improve attention, self-expression, emotional regulation, and social interaction — often reaching children where other interventions cannot.
What Our Sessions Include
Sessions are highly individualised and may include singing, rhythm and percussion activities, improvisation, movement to music, listening exercises, and songwriting. Every activity is carefully chosen to work toward each child's specific therapeutic goals in an enjoyable, low-pressure environment.
Who Benefits Most
Music therapy is particularly effective for children with autism, ADHD, developmental delays, learning disabilities, and emotional or behavioural difficulties. Many families report improvements in mood, communication, and engagement after just a few sessions — and children often ask to come back.
